Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026

This is a static personal portfolio and microblog operated by a private individual. It does not accept orders or generate sales, commission, or affiliate income for the operator. It is designed to collect as little information as practical: there are no visitor accounts, comments, contact forms, advertisements, embedded third-party media, or audience analytics. This policy explains the limited information that may still be handled when you load the site, use a local feature, or contact me by email.

No profiles

The site has no accounts, comments, newsletter, or server-side contact form.

No audience analytics

Site code includes no analytics pixel or beacon, and its security policy blocks Cloudflare's external analytics script.

Minimal local storage

A light or dark theme choice can be saved on your device. It is not used to track you.

Who is responsible for this site

The operator below is the controller for the limited personal information described in this policy. The site is not operated as a shop and the operator does not receive sales income, commissions, or affiliate payments from links on the site.

Information that may be handled

Website requests and hosting

The site is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare Pages. When your browser requests a page or file, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address, requested URL and time, routing information, referring page, browser or system configuration, and security-related traffic data. It may also produce aggregate traffic, performance, and security metrics from requests handled by its network.

This processing is used to deliver, protect, and maintain the site. I do not use it to build visitor profiles, target advertising, or identify what an individual reads. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Email you choose to send

The site has no contact form. If you contact me through the published email address, I receive the information you choose to include, such as your name, email address, message, and any attachments. I use it to read, reply to, and manage the correspondence. Email is currently handled through Gmail, so Google's Privacy Policy also applies to that service.

On-device preferences and search

If you select light or dark mode, the site saves the value light or dark under a browser local-storage key named theme. It stays on your device and is not sent to me. The full details are in the Cookie Policy.

Site filtering runs in your browser against a copy of the post index. As you type, the search term is placed in the current page's q URL parameter so the result can be refreshed or shared; this does not itself make a new network request, but it can remain in your browser history. Loading, refreshing, sharing, or opening that URL sends the full URL to Cloudflare as part of the ordinary hosting request. Submitting the search form also makes that request when JavaScript is unavailable. Do not put sensitive information in a search URL.

Self-hosted fonts

The site's open-source fonts are downloaded when the site is built and served as static files from this site's own domain. Loading a page does not send a font request to the original font provider.

Why information is used

  • Delivering and securing the site: technical request and security data is processed under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are publishing the requested pages, maintaining availability, diagnosing faults, and preventing abuse. I do not export request logs or use request data for audience measurement, behavioral advertising, or visitor profiles.
  • Replying to email: Article 6(1)(b) applies when you ask for steps connected with a possible collaboration or other agreement. For general questions, Article 6(1)(f) applies; the legitimate interest is responding to correspondence that you choose to initiate.
  • Remembering your theme: the value remains on your device and is used only to provide the appearance you explicitly request. It is not received or otherwise processed by the operator.
  • Legal claims and obligations: relevant information may be processed under Article 6(1)(c) where a legal obligation applies, or Article 6(1)(f) for the legitimate interest of establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.

No personal information is used for behavioral advertising or sold to data brokers.

What you must provide

Technical request data is supplied automatically by your browser and network when you request the site; without the request, Cloudflare cannot return the page. Choosing a theme and sending an email are optional. If you email me, you decide what to include, but I need a usable return address and enough context to reply. The site does not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Service providers and disclosures

I do not sell or rent personal information. Information is handled by other organizations only where their service is involved:

  • Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, California 94107, USA, to provide DNS, host, deliver, and protect the site. Cloudflare can be contacted through its support portal.
  • Google, if you choose to send an email to the published Gmail address.
  • A competent authority or other recipient if disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the site and its users.

Posts and the Socials page contain ordinary links to external websites. There are no embedded videos, social feeds, checkout pages, or other third-party widgets. Your browser contacts a destination website when you choose to follow its link; after that, the destination's own privacy and cookie terms apply.

Some posts link to third-party marketplaces where software created by the site operator can be purchased. Those listings are published and sold independently by a family member registered in Hungary as a sole proprietor (egyéni vállalkozó). The site operator is not the seller and currently receives no payment, commission, affiliate fee, or other direct financial benefit from purchases. The marketplace and the seller identified on the relevant product page handle checkout, payment, delivery, support, and refunds. This site does not process orders or payment data. See the Legal Notice for the current publishing arrangement.

How long information is kept

  • I do not maintain a visitor database, export request logs, or keep a separate history of the pages you read. Cloudflare controls the retention of technical request and security data. Its retention is determined by the relevant delivery or security feature and is limited according to the need to operate the network, diagnose faults, detect and mitigate abuse, enforce applicable terms, and meet legal obligations. I do not create a separate copy or extend those periods.
  • The theme preference remains in your browser until you change it or clear the site's storage.
  • Email correspondence is kept according to this rule: General enquiries are normally deleted within 12 months after the last substantive correspondence. Messages connected with an active collaboration, contract, dispute, or legal obligation may be kept for the duration of that matter and afterwards for the applicable limitation or statutory retention period. Messages are deleted when they are no longer needed for those purposes.

International processing

Cloudflare may process technical request and security data outside the European Economic Area. Its Data Processing Addendum applies the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to restricted transfers where an adequacy decision does not apply. If you email the published Gmail address, Google Ireland may make onward transfers; Google states that it relies on adequacy decisions, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for eligible certified US recipients, and on Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

Cloudflare's current Data Processing Addendum contains the transfer terms and Standard Contractual Clauses. Google's data-transfer framework notice explains its transfer mechanisms. You may request further information or a copy of the safeguards relevant to processing under my control by using the privacy email above; provider documents may be redacted where necessary to protect confidential information.

Your privacy rights

Under the GDPR, subject to its conditions and exceptions, you have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, and data portability, and to object to certain processing of your personal information. You also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. Some rights apply only in particular circumstances.

To make a request, email dev.markelek@gmail.com. The relevant supervisory authority is National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).

I will normally respond without undue delay and within one month. If a request is complex or numerous, that period may be extended by up to two further months; if so, I will explain the extension within the first month. I may need proportionate information to verify the requester's identity.

NAIH can be contacted at 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9-11, Hungary; postal address 1363 Budapest, Pf. 9; or ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu. You may also complain to the supervisory authority where you habitually live or work, or where an alleged infringement occurred.

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Because I do not keep a visitor database or export identifiable request logs, I may not hold information that can be linked back to a particular site visit. I will still assess and respond to any request I receive.

Security and children

The site is static and has no visitor account or content-submission database. Reasonable technical measures are used to deliver it securely, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. The site is a general-audience portfolio and microblog; it is not directed at children and does not knowingly request personal information from them.

Changes and contact

This policy will be updated if the site's features, providers, or data practices change. The date at the top will show the latest review. For questions about this policy, email dev.markelek@gmail.com or visit the Socials page.
